Doomsday basics - week 1

Some of you have been hearing about Doomsday for a while now.  Good.  that means that you're already farther ahead than many of us when we first experienced Doomsday.  Note, many of us are still going through our first Doomsday event in our old state, so, there's still a learning curve.

Doomsday changes the game entirely.  We need to work together more.  Not only as an alliance, but with other alliances in this state, and others.

To start with, lets go into tiles.  you're going to see some new tiles on the ground.

On the map, these tiles start at a lower level in the desert and get higher the closer that we get to center.

Thur purpose of these tiles is;
Empty Plots - produces low amounts of diseased crops
Waste Farm - produces diseased crops
Forest - produces mutated lumber
Mineral Deposit - produces iron ore
Oil Deposit - produces fossil fuel
Polluted Water - produces dirty water

So, to begin with, we will be placing alliance center 1 near the edge of the map.  we will then begin to place our Doomsday honor structures around it.  There are 4 basic doomsday honor structures;

Virus Research Facility - Gives poison immunity that lets you capture higher level plots without suffering losses and heals your poisoned troops
Processing Plant - Processes infected materials into resources, virus samples, and composite materials used to level up your honor structures
Special Operations Command - Gives bonus might and additional bonus might when capturing territories
Guardian Fortress - Gives Bonus resistance and additional resistance when capturing territories.

To begin with, we want to place our guardian fortresses directly around the first alliance center.  These provide a massive defensive boost.

From there, we want to start placing our other buildings in rings around these with 1 row between.  This will allow us to maximize the space between anyone able to port in and our alliance center.

Here's an example

From there, we can start occupying tiles.  You can only occupy a tile adjacent to yours or your alliance members.  At the beginning, you will probably be able to occupy level one tiles without much of an issue. When you click on occupy, you will see your current immunity and how much hp poison damage your troops will take.  0 is all good.  note, some troops will still die.  Troops who die of poison however are healed in the virus research facility.  More on that later.  You may see an actual amount of hp poison damage.  I've always considered less than about 5-10% acceptable.

When you've occupied a tile, you can then occupy the next one.  We want to occupy tiles that will provide us stuff, but, to get there, we need to build a path out of tiles.  When you first occupy one, it will be in a short protection phase, about 5 minutes.  Empty tiles are only good for making paths.  After you've made the next, go ahead and abandon the ones that you don't need.  There is a 30 minute timer to abandon a tile.  Remember, you want the highest level resource tiles that you can get.  When you run out of tiles that you can have, you can also abandon the lower level resource tiles.

This should provide the basics.  Later on, I will go into detail into the different types of honor structures, and how to use them.
